The Critiki Bar

Want feedback on your work?
Pull up a chair at the Critiki Bar!
At Critique Club, members can share a chapter from their work and get feedback from others. Each week, someone can submit a 5,000-word excerpt to the Discord channel #chapter-links where the others can read and leave comments. On Wednesday evenings (during the Off-Season) we get together to discuss.
Anyone may take part and leave feedback, but to have your work reviewed, we have a few requirements.
- Initially, you must read, review, and leave feedback on two different submissions. This lets us know you’re taking it seriously, and lets you see how our events work.
- Once you are eligible to submit, you must have something ready to go. We will ask on Wednesdays for volunteers and you need to post your work on Thursday night. If we don’t get a link by then, it will go to the next person on the list.
- After you have had a turn, you need to review another two pieces of work before you can submit again.
- We do not accept ANY submissions using generative AI.
If multiple people have something ready to go, the eligible member who has waited the longest since their last turn will be selected. We have a spreadsheet where you can track this, which is available on the Discord.
We also request you put a note of the kind of feedback you’re looking for at the top of your submission; for example if you want feedback to focus on character, plot, dialogue etc. That way your feedback can be as helpful as possible. You will see examples of this on other member’s submissions when reviewing, and you can check out our previous submissions.
Happy critiquing!
